Went out early yesterday morning to do some maintenance mowing and brush thinning on a lease we have in northern Lapeer County. My friend fired up the DR Brush Mower, and I grabbed a set of loppers and got busy snipping and clearing a few small trees and branches that give us trouble trying to park at the edge of the farm field.
I had gotten nearly done with the clearing when I decided to cut just a couple more branches over near the gate. Man was that a mistake. Apparently there’s a home of wasps right close to the gate, and they were not at all happy with me adjusting their surroundings. In a couple seconds time I got stung about 8 or 9 times. Geez, those little yellow and black striped buggers hurt when they bite. My buddy with the DR wound up on the receiving end of some wasp wrath too, getting a few nibbling on his ear lobe. Think we’ll wait for a little cooler day to monkey around by that gate.
